If you could give our members one piece of advice on Recruiting, Retention or Agent Productivity, what would it be?

On recruiting, there's no way around it. You have to do it. If you don't have a passion for it and don't want to do it, find something you do want to do. On retention, you have to notice everything agents do. You have to touch them and acknowledge them and not in a sick way-you've got to teach them to stand on their own two feet. But notice, notice, notice because particularly in this market, they're beat up.

I say our jobs are much like hotel cleaning staffs'. Agents are like pillows, and we have to plump them and puff them all day long. They walk out that door, and the world beats them up, and somebody's got to be there to fluff them and puff them when they walk back in the door. The office has to be a safe place to land because it's hard out there.
